This feels very much like the sort of mug someone’s mum accidentally donated years ago and they’ve quietly thought about ever since.

The illustration shows one of Andrew Brownsword’s classic little mouse characters sitting beside a half-eaten birthday cake with a balloon, and it has that unmistakable late 80s / early 90s characterware charm that instantly feels familiar even if you can’t quite place why.

A genuinely lovely vintage second life find, especially for someone replacing a broken favourite, collecting Brownsword pieces, or simply finding themselves drawn to those oddly comforting illustrated kitchen objects that used to live in so many homes. The artwork still feels soft, playful and actually quite modern in that understated way older designs sometimes do.
